We've teamed up with the League of American Bicyclists to protect its members from the financial costs of a bicycle related injury, from a short emergency visit to a traumatic brain injury. What is Balance? It's like a helmet for your wallet.
How does it work? Simple. Balance pays directly when you suffer a covered accident. You can use that money to pay for deductibles and expenses health insurance doesn't cover.
With plans starting at $5.95 per month for Bike League Members, Balance offers up to $150,000 of financial protection. With Balance, you're covered.
$10,000 Bike League Benefit
(included in membership for BFA Society, Century Supporter & Silver Spoke)
BFA Society, Century Supporter and Silver Spoke members are automatically enrolled in Bike League’s Membership Benefit Plan. We provide $10,000 of serious injury coverage (traumatic brain injury, paralysis, dismemberment, and accidental death) at no additional cost to you. Supplementary coverage is not included. These members may also purchase additional coverage on top of the $10,000 Bike League Membership Benefit.
Please note: for League members over 75 years of age, this benefit is $5,000.
From a quick visit to an Urgent Care Center to a Serious Traumatic Brain Injury, Balance helps protect your wallet in event of a crash. Choose up to $150,000 of Long Term Injury Coverage. All plans come with up to $24,550 of Short Term Injury Coverage for any covered accident. See details below.
for injuries requiring medical treatment
Worried about hospital costs? If you suffer a covered accident, Balance provides $300 a day for up to 60 days in hospital.
Please note: This benefit does not include confinement in a Long Term Acute Care Hospital. What’s a “Long Term Acute Care Hospital?”
There's no time to worry about costs during an emergency. Balance offers an extra $300 per visit payable for treatment in an Emergency Room and $150 per visit for treatment in an Urgent Care Center.
Need a physical therapist? So long as you receive treatment within 72 hours of a covered accident, Balance pays you $75 a visit for up to 10 visits with a physical therapist. Just be sure to begin treatment within 60 days of the accident.
When you need an ambulance, Balance pays up to $500 to help offset the cost of a ground ambulance and/or up to $5,000 for transportation by air if required.
Please note: this an “Excess Benefit,” and is payable only to the extent that another health insurer or source doesn’t provide coverage. What does “Excess Benefit” mean?
for life-altering injuries, up to $150,000
TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY (TBI)
Balance is the first insurance plan to offer a benefit specifically for traumatic brain injury (TBI) from a bicycle accident, with benefits for severe and moderate traumatic brain injuries. What’s considered a TBI?
If a covered accident results in paralysis in one or more limbs, Balance has you covered with benefits for quadriplegia, hemiplegia, paraplegia, and uniplegia.
Loss of Limb (Dismemberment)
If you lose one or more body members (i.e. arm, leg, hand, foot or eye) resulting from a covered accident, Balance will pay you a specified percentage of the selected benefit.
